Superior Essex Leads Sustainability-Centric Masterclass for RCDDs at 2021 BICSI Winter Conference

February 24, 2021

Superior Essex Communications, the leading manufacturer and supplier of communications cable in North America, is proud to conduct a pre-conference masterclass during the BICSI Winter 2021 conference. Titled as “The World’s Focusing More Than Ever on Sustainability – Here’s Why RCDDs Should as Well,” the masterclass will center on the cross-section of where ICT and sustainability overlap, shedding a massive light on the future of work for RCDDs across the globe – Sustainable Intelligent Buildings.

With a global market projected to hit $960 Billion by 2023, fulfilling the structured networking needs of Sustainable Intelligent Buildings will heavily drive decades of work for RCDDs. However, with stricter sustainability requirements than buildings of the past, they will need to know how to spec and design for these structures to win this future work. Thus, Superior Essex has gathered ICT and sustainability experts together from across the country to address critical topics such as green-building certifications, materials transparency, sustainable sourcing and how IoT makes buildings greener.

Featuring Annie Bevan, Global Head of Sustainability, Superior Essex Communications; Jason Finnegan, Product Manager, Copper Solutions, Legrand, North America; Patty Lloyd, Director of Sustainability, Leopardo Companies, Inc.; and Annalise Dum, Sustainability Project Manager, JLL, in discussion, the virtual session will teach RCDDs all about the new, more stringent and perhaps unexpected sustainability requirements of Sustainable Intelligent Buildings so that they will know how to spec and design communications systems to win decades of future work.

“As industry-leading innovators in the world of structured cabling, we feel it’s our responsibility to teach our partners, our customers and our industry about how Sustainable Intelligent Buildings will effectively reshape the world’s ICT work,” said Brian Ensign, Vice President of Marketing, Superior Essex Communications, and past BICSI President. “And we have a duty to prepare RCDDs to be able to connect them all.”

Masterclass attendees will also be able to learn about the company’s numerous, industry-leading sustainability efforts. These include Superior Essex being one of only a handful of companies in the United States to be certified as truly Zero Waste to Landfill; the first cable manufacturer with certified Red List Free products; and the first cable manufacturer with products that contribute points toward LEED® certification, the WELL Building Standard and the Living Product Challenge.

Available online everywhere and taking place on February 28, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST, the masterclass is also worth 3 CECs for those seeking to attain or maintain their RCDD certification.
